Leicester City are facing fresh points deduction fears as questions continue to be asked about the financial situation at the King Power Stadium.
Despite being charged by the Premier League for breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in 2022-23, Leicester avoided a points deduction after exploiting a loophole in the rules.
However, that case is still ongoing as the two parties remain in arbitration following the club’s breach.
Leicester’s revenue fell by £72million last season after their turnover dropped from £177million in 2022-23 to £105million despite securing the Championship title.
Meanwhile, their losses fell from £90million to £19million in 2023-24, with top-flight clubs permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told AntephTrends Leicester have a PSR “problem” this season following their heavy financial losses.
The Foxes look certain for an immediate return to the Championship as they currently sit second bottom in the Premier League table, 15 points from safety after 31 matches.
EFL to handle Leicester PSR issue
Borson revealed Leicester’s PSR issue will fall into the EFL’s hands following their anticipated relegation.
He told AntephTrends: “Even if they have got through 2023-24, they’ve got a problem for the current season as well because it runs on the three-year cycle.
“We know as well that PSR is sticking around.
“Obviously, they are going to get relegated and, therefore, their issue then potentially falls into the hands of the EFL.
“Then we’re back to who has jurisdiction for this.
“We will get some clarity on it, but at the moment, none of it is clear.
“We know Leicester are the club who are challenging all of this jurisdiction stuff as to who can govern each season.
“It just so happens that they’re the yo-yo club who are just bouncing between these two regimes and really testing the limits of these regimes, so we’ll see.”

Leicester to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told AntephTrends Ruud van Nistelrooy will be sacked by Leicester after failing to turn their fortunes around.
The Foxes became the first side in English football’s top four tiers to lose eight successive home league games without scoring following their 3-0 defeat against Newcastle United.
Van Nistelrooy’s side have not found the back of the net at the King Power Stadium since their 2-2 draw against Brighton on 8 December.
