Tulane Finishes Eighth at Ironwood Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – In the final tournament of the regular season Tulane golf takes eighth place among 16 teams in the Ironwood Invitational hosted by East Carolina. The Green Wave carded a 298 (+10) in the third round on Tuesday to close the tournament with a 54-hole score of 912 (+48).
 
As a team, Tulane ranked fourth in the tournament in birdies with 25 paced by the trio of Gabriella Gilrowski, Ruhee Pandit, and Francesca Pompa with six each.
 
Gilrowski led the way for the Wave across the three-round tournament carding a 226 (+10 – 79, 73, 74) to finish tied for 20th overall. She closed competition by posting a 74 (+2) in her third round to climb nine spots in the standings.
 
Next in the standings for Tulane was Pompa who moved up 18 spots on Tuesday as she posted a 73 (+1) in the final round. She finished the tournament with a three-round score of 228 (+12 – 75, 80, 73) to land tied for 24th overall.
 
The biggest mover for the Wave in the final round of the tournament was Cristian Albertazzi who climbed 26 spots after shooting a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. Her strong performance on Tuesday moved her into a tie for 42nd overall with a 54-hole score of 232 (+16 – 80, 79, 73).

Rounding out the group for Tulane were Pandit and Matilde Innocenti. Pandit carded a 78 (+6) in the third round to finish tied for 48th overall with a final score of 233 (+17 – 74, 81, 78). Meanwhile, Innocenti tied for 63rd in the tournament posting a three-round score of 236 (+20 – 82, 74, 80).
 
Up next, the Green Wave will compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship in Brooksville, Florida, from April 14-16.
